Rights, digitization, and virtual restoration

Who to contact?

It’s crucial to reach out to the rightful holder of the economic rights to the movie posters and playbills, as these too are protected by copyright.

The majority of Italian Master Painters of Posters, or their heirs, have assigned the rights of use and holder of the rights for commercial use of their works to S.A.C. S.r.l..

S.A.C. S.r.l. has, in turn, licensed these rights to Webphoto & Service S.r.l..

Webphoto currently holds the rights to license approximately 20,000 images including movie posters, playbills and lobby cards.

Therefore, through us, you can legally utilize a large collection of images that have defined cinema history.

Webphoto and Services: our services

Digitization and virtual restoration services

After years of research and careful preservation, we have almost completed the fundamental process of digitizing the original material.

We utilize a professional and highly sophisticated digital SLR camera, capable of capturing high-resolution images with exceptional detail and clarity.

Once the image is captured, it undergoes a meticulous enhancement phase. This process may involve adjustments to contrast, color saturation, removal of imperfections, or even true virtual restoration, depending on the requirements. The digitized image is then saved in an appropriate format and high resolution to preserve the quality and details of the original work.

The end result is a high-resolution digital image that can be published, projected, or printed in its original format, allowing the artwork to be showcased in all its grandeur.

User license service

We issue licenses for the use of movie posters and playbills, which regulate their usage in the following ways:

  • Specific usage: The possibilities for using movie posters and playbills are numerous and allow for showcasing artworks in various contexts and industries.
  • Limited duration: The duration of the image usage authorization is dependent on specific needs and will have a defined time limit if not linked to a particular project, such as a book publication.

The cost of a license may vary based on factors such as the type of usage, image dimensions, geographic distribution, and more.
